Give a Vehicle. Change a Family's Life.
A Good Shepherd, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and licensed Maryland MVA to accept vehicle donations, with a primary mission to empower low-income families facing economic hardship. For these families, reliable transportation is a vital lifeline connecting them to employment, places of worship, education, and independence.
Through our Vehicle Ownership Program, we channel donated vehicles into life-changing support—restoring dignity and opening pathways to self-reliance. We maximize tax deductions for donors while ensuring eligible families receive the greatest value.
When low-income families gain vehicle access, they experience increased wages and better health. We rely on community donations to refurbish donated vehicles and place them with eligible, vetted families in need.

Our Values
A single act of generosity can change a life forever
A Good Shepherd, Inc. is a licensed nonprofit organization in Maryland built on a straightforward belief: dependable transportation opens the door to opportunity. We turn donated vehicles into life-altering resources for low-income individuals and families throughout the DMV area — with no eligibility restrictions, and every vehicle inspected and certified by ASE-licensed master mechanics.
We envision a DMV region where financial struggle is never made worse by a lack of transportation. Getting from place to place isn't a luxury — it's a basic building block of independence, one that links people to jobs, medical care, and schooling.
With the generosity of donors and the skill of dedicated craftspeople, we're working toward a future where every family has the support they need to keep moving forward.
A community that rises together.
Dignity. Generosity. Accountability. Community.
We believe everyone deserves the freedom to move forward in life — and that a single act of giving can make that possible.

How Vehicle Donation Works
Who We Serve
For many people with limited income, not having reliable transportation is the biggest barrier standing between them and steady work, healthcare, education, and independence. We serve working adults, single-parent households, people transitioning out of public assistance or foster care, veterans, and seniors — treating everyone with dignity, regardless of race, religion, gender, or national origin.
What Recipients Receive
Every placed vehicle includes a Maryland State inspection certificate, a 90-day warranty (select vehicles), AAA membership, and full MVA compliance.
Vehicles We Accept
We accept virtually any vehicle — cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, boats, motorcycles, RVs, and more — in any condition, running or not. If it has wheels, we want to hear from you
Get Involved
We're looking for skilled volunteers, partner organizations, and sponsors. Opportunities range from certified mechanics and administrative support to towing providers and grant writers, among others. Volunteers must be at least 19 years old.
We also welcome financial gifts and in-kind donations, and we're always seeking partner agencies to help us identify and support the families we serve.
