One Vehicle. One Family. One Life Transformed.

A Good Shepherd, Inc. is an IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit, proudly licensed by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration to receive charitable vehicle donations. Through our community-driven model, we bridge the gap between generous donors like you and low-income families who need reliable transportation to access employment, healthcare, and a future defined by independence — not circumstance.

Our Vision

Our Values

A single act of generosity can change a life forever

A Good Shepherd, Inc. is a licensed Maryland nonprofit rooted in a simple conviction: reliable transportation is a gateway to opportunity. We transform donated vehicles into life-changing resources for low-income families and individuals exclusively in Montgomery County, MD — with no cost to recipients, no barriers to eligibility, and every vehicle certified by ASE-licensed master mechanics.

We envision a Montgomery County where economic hardship is never compounded by the inability to get there. Transportation is not a privilege — it is a fundamental enabler of self-sufficiency, connecting people to employment, healthcare, and education.
Through donor generosity and skilled craftsmanship, we work toward a future where no family is left behind.
A community that moves forward — together.

Dignity. Generosity. Accountability. Community.

We believe every person deserves the freedom to move forward — and that one act of giving can make it possible.

Who We Serve

For many low-income individuals, lack of transportation is the single greatest obstacle to employment, healthcare, education, and independence. We serve working adults, single-parent households, individuals transitioning from public assistance or foster care, veterans, and seniors — with dignity and without regard to race, religion, gender, or national origin.

What Recipients Receive

Every placed vehicle includes a Maryland State inspection certificate, a 90-day warranty (select vehicles), AAA membership, and full MVA compliance — at zero cost to the recipient.

Vehicles We Accept

We accept virtually any vehicle — cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, boats, motorcycles, RVs, and more — in any condition, running or not. If it has wheels, we want to hear from you.

Get Involved

We welcome skilled volunteers, partner organizations, and sponsors. Opportunities include certified mechanics, administrative support, towing providers, grant writers, and more. Volunteers must be 19 or older.
We also accept financial contributions and in-kind donations, and actively seek partner agencies to help identify and support recipients.
